Rebecca & Michael’s Beautiful Garden Marquee Wedding
There’s something rather special about getting married somewhere that already means so much to you.
For Rebecca and Michael, that was their garden.
Instead of heading to a traditional wedding venue, they transformed a much-loved family garden into the setting for their wedding day – creating an atmosphere that felt personal, relaxed and completely their own.
And with a beautifully dressed marquee taking centre stage, the garden became the perfect backdrop for a celebration filled with great food, plenty of dancing and all the people who mattered most.
A wedding at home, made for celebrating
One of the things we love most about weddings is that they don’t all have to look the same.
Rebecca and Michael’s day was a brilliant example of how a private space can be transformed into a memorable wedding setting with the right planning, styling and catering.
The marquee created a natural focal point within the garden, with plenty of space for guests to sit down and enjoy the meal before the evening naturally moved towards the dancefloor.
At the heart of the marquee was a central dancefloor, giving the room an effortlessly sociable feel. Guests could enjoy dinner together, then move seamlessly from the table to the dancefloor as the celebrations continued.
It was personal, informal and full of character – exactly what a wedding at home should feel like.

The brief: delicious food, beautifully served
For Rebecca and Michael, the food needed to feel just as considered as the setting. Their wedding menu was designed to create a memorable dining experience for their guests, while fitting naturally into the relaxed garden setting. From the first course through to the final plates, the focus was on beautifully prepared food, thoughtful presentation and service that allowed the couple and their guests to simply enjoy the day. Because when you’re getting married in your parents’ garden, the last thing you want is to spend the day worrying about what’s happening behind the scenes. That’s where having an experienced wedding catering team makes all the difference.
More than just wedding catering
For us, catering a wedding is about much more than preparing and serving the food. Our team was there to help bring the dining side of Rebecca and Michael’s day together – from setting up the marquee and preparing the tables to ensuring everything was ready for guests as they arrived. And because the wedding was taking place at home, there were plenty of details to consider behind the scenes. Private garden weddings can be wonderfully personal, but they also require careful planning. Access, kitchen facilities, power, refrigeration, service areas, guest flow and the practicalities of preparing and serving food away from a traditional venue all need to be considered. It’s something we’re very used to.
Our role is to take care of those details so that, on the day itself, everything feels effortless.
A marquee made for the occasion
The marquee completely transformed the garden. Rather than simply being somewhere to eat, it became the centre of the celebration – bringing everyone together for the meal while leaving plenty of room for the party to unfold around it. With the dancefloor positioned centrally, there was a real sense of energy in the room. Dinner could transition into drinks, conversation and dancing without ever feeling like the evening had to stop and start. It’s one of the reasons marquee weddings can work so beautifully: the space can be designed around the way you actually want to celebrate. Long lunches, relaxed sharing-style dining, formal wedding breakfasts, late-night snacks and a packed dancefloor – the layout can be created around you rather than the other way around.
Your garden. Your marquee. Your wedding.
Rebecca and Michael’s wedding is a lovely reminder that your wedding doesn’t need to take place in a traditional venue to feel incredibly special. A family garden can become the setting for the day. A marquee can become the dining room, bar and dancefloor. And with the right catering team, you can create a wedding menu and experience that feels every bit as considered as a venue-hosted celebration. For couples considering an at-home or private garden wedding, it’s also an opportunity to make the day truly personal. You can choose the setting, the layout, the atmosphere and, of course, the food. And that’s where we come in. At Inside Out Eventz, we create memorable wedding dining experiences across London, Hertfordshire and Essex, from intimate garden celebrations to larger marquee weddings. Whether you’re planning a relaxed summer wedding at home, a formal garden reception or a full marquee celebration, we’ll work with you to create a menu and service that suits the way you want your day to feel. Because ultimately, the best weddings aren’t about following a formula.
They’re about creating a day that feels like you.
And Rebecca and Michael’s beautiful garden wedding did exactly that.
